The Powerwall is a display technology for large, high-resolution, and optionally stereoscopic video. It achieves high resolution on a large scale by tiling the displays of nine projector screens into a 3x3 array. 6-DOF 3D trackers on controllers and shutter glasses allow for 3D interaction and display.

The Powerwall is located at 180 George Street, in the same room as the Cave. This facility is administered by CCV, the Center for Computation and Visualization, which used to be part of the Division of Applied Math.

Turning Tiledwall on and off

  1. At the CCV Kiosk next to the wall, press the "Powerwall On" or "Powerwall Off" button.

How to run the Scalable Display automatic-calibration at CCV

Scalable Display, Inc. has installed their automatic calibration hardware and software at CCV. This system uses a camera to accurately register the 3x3 array of projectors with each other to produce a single large display. It calibrates both geometry and color across projectors.

Basic calibration:

  1. Go to kiosk and press the "Run Tiledwall Calibration" button and wait..
  2. A message box will appear saying "Success!" or "Error".
  3. Run your $G application by typing:

./runtiledwall -c USE_SDC=1 -c SDC_CALIBRATION=/tmp/ScalableData.ol
