'''CAVE''' is a recursive acronym for "CAVE Automatic Virtual Environment". It is a display technology for virtual reality that uses shutter glasses and several projection screens surrounding the user to create a virtual world in which the user's body and other physical objects are also visible.

The CAVE at Brown, which we just call "The Cave", is a joint venture between the CS department and CCV, the Center for Computation and Visualization, which used to be part of the Division of Applied Math.
